Conor Grimes

High School: Unionville High School

Graduation Year: 2013

Position: Defense/LSM

College Choice: University of California at Santa Barbara (MCLA Division I)

Club Affiliation: Team 302 All-star and Team 302 Elite

Major lacrosse honors: Team 302 All-star and Team 302 Elite – where we traveled as a team to 5 major showcase tournaments in Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania

Academic honors: 4.1 GPA, National Honors Society, Eagle Scout

What will you major in/study? College of Sciences/ Environmental Chemistry

Why did you choose the school? “It is a great school academically, with a unique mix of schoolwork, social life, and amazing weather, and I had an awesome first impression. All the classrooms are clean and new. Also the campus is very flat and easy to navigate, and has very user friendly libraries and study rooms. The city of Santa Barbara is very close, which is another aspect that was a plus for me. All around, I thought I would be a good fit and knew I would have a lot of fun and a great education.”

Other comments: “My experience on Team 302 made me really work hard to try to go somewhere for lacrosse, whether as a varsity sport or club. I had a great time playing with everyone who knew the game very well and coaches that were very intense come game time. I knew I wanted that atmosphere at the next level.”

Other schools considered? California Polytechnic, Penn state, Colorado School of Mines
