Ian Riehl

High School: Downingtown East

Graduation Year: 2014

College Choice: St. Mary’s College

Club Affiliation: Mesa Fresh 2014

Major lacrosse honors: Honorable Mention All Ches-Mont, First Team All Ches-Mont

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose St. Mary’s? “I chose St. Mary’s because of the great academics and atmosphere of the campus. The location is perfect, being situated right on the water and not to far from home.

“I also chose it because of the excellent coaching staff that I feel has the skills and experience to power the team to becoming a top 5 ranked team in all of Division III. I loved all of the guys on the team which made it an easy choice to pick St. Mary’s.”

What are your thoughts on this past HS lacrosse season/team’s outlook for next season? “This past season was one of my favorites. We struggled in the beginning but then went on a 10 game winning streak to finish the season as Ches-Mont League champs. We then went 5 rounds into the District playoffs, losing the final game that would have propelled us to the State playoffs.

“This upcoming season looks just as good as last year if not better. We lost some key seniors but our team was very young last year and this year they should have a big impact on the team.

Additional Comments: “I would like to thank all my coaches from youth lacrosse that helped me learn lacrosse the right way(Coach Kiley, Miller, and Glancy).

“I would also like to thank my High School coaches, Coach Cliggett, Carozza, Karpinski, Cullinan and my Club coaches, Coach Carney, Scott, and Campbell for helping me develop into the player that I am now.

“Lastly I would like to thank my Mom, Dad, and Sister for the support and encouragement that they have given me throughout the whole process.”
