From Press Release
Starting this December, NXTsports will transform United Sports’ indoor winter lacrosse competition into a box lacrosse league. League games will be played with box goals, and NXT will provide high-quality box goalie equipment for participating teams to borrow for game play.
The rules governing play will consist of modified box rules, designed to foster the skill-development that comes from playing in tight quarters, but with limited contact to create a completely safe environment.
League Highlights:
• Opening Clinic by Professional Box Players & Rules/League review with referees
• 45 minute games / 8 week season
• Sunday games beginning Dec. 15th
• Modified box rules, box nets, 5 v.5 and goalie equipment provided
The league will debut Sunday, December 8 at the United Sports with a series of clinics for participating coaches, players, goalies and referees. The clinics will review game rules, coaching practices, and provide basic skill sessions for players and goalies. League games will be played Sundays, starting on Sunday, December 15th, and the league will wrap with playoffs and championships on Sunday, February 16.
Sunday’s opening clinic will be run by Dan Decklebaum, George Castle, Patrick Crosby and Andy Hayes from 10am to 11am for youth teams and 11am to 12pm for high school players. Players will go through a number of box-based drills, concepts, and game play exercises. For goalies there will be an opportunity to get fitted for pads as well as learn
how to wear them. Coaches and directors will go through a rules and league review with our director of referees Paul Kubach where all questions can be answered about league expectation and rules.
The league will feature youth and high school divisions. Additional details regarding scheduling, age brackets, and all other information will be released shortly. This is the final week to register for the league, there are limited spots available. If you have a team interested in participating please contact Dylan Brown at Dylan@iamnxt.com.
