Three Philly players helped the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) claim third place today in the US Lacrosse U15 National Championships at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Ryan McNulty (Bishop Shanahan), Forry Smith (Haverford School) and Tyler Will (Haverford School) all played key roles for FCA, which defeated the Duke’s Lacrosse Club Triple H team, 12-4, in the third-place consolation game.
Smith (Class of 2016) was one of the team’s top scorers, while McNulty was a key at LSM and close defense and Will was strong at midfield, scoring two goals in the third-place game while earning All-Tournament honors.
Smith – who plays for the Dukes as well as Mesa Fresh when not with FCA – also had two goals in the consolation. McNulty plays for Man Up and Will plays for Mesa Fresh.
The Duke’s HHH reached the semis for the first time in this tourney. Dukes fell to 3d, 10-7, in the semifinals. 3d went on to down the Long Island Express Barracudas, 10-4, in the title game.
In the semifinal loss to 3d, Dukes HHH was led by Bret Baskin (three goals), Mike Fay (two goals) and Matt Moore (two assists). Defenseman Jordan Young made Lacrosse Magazine’s All-Tournament team.
3d was comprised of players mostly from Colorado and California and became the first West Coast team to win the tourney.
