No snow in Florida: Harriton girls win, 11-6; Shipley boys fall

It did not snow in Florida!

The Harriton lacrosse team escaped the Northeast just in time to board a flight to Ft. Lauderdale for a Spring Break game vs. St.Thomas Aquinas.

The Rams, weary-eyed, fell behind, 2-1, early in the game, and then erupted for six unanswered goals and then coasted to an 11-6 victory.

Harriton is 2-0 and ranked No. 5 by

Katie Melvin collected four goals, an assist, two caused turnovers and three draw controls while Sabrina Tabasso had two goals, four groundballs and five draw controls to spark the win. Jane Henderson and Alex Ladda each had two goals and defender Hilary Lemonick scored once.

The Rams drove across the state to Naples for Tuesday’s game at 12-0 Barron Collier.

Cory Rayfield had three goals and Chris Verdeur scooped eight groundballs to lead Shipley in its loss during its Spring Break trip to Florida.

Ian Walsh made 12 saves for the Gators and Drew Silvera scored once while Andrew Wofford had two assists and James Lee added one.

Verdeur led the defense while Nick Gonzalez was a standout with five groundballs and Rob Cucuel and Nick Piasecki also excelled.
