The Sacred Heart men’s lacrosse team has announced the addition of 11 student-athletes for the 2014 season.
The 11 newcomers come to campus from six different states – New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ontario. The Pioneers bolstered their midfield unit with five new additions, as well as four new pieces on defense.
“We’re very excited about our freshmen this year,” said head coach Jon Basti. “They’ve already brought a lot to the table and they’ll play a big part in everything that we’re trying to do going forward with the program. We’re thrilled about their enthusiasm and youthful exuberance that they have brought to the team.”
The 2014 Sacred Heart Men’s Lacrosse Newcomers:
#6 – Troy Moyer 5-9/185 – Midfield
Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area
Prior to Sacred Heart: A four-year letterwinner at Boyertown Area Senior High … Named First-Team All-Pac 10 and All-Area all four years … Team captain in his senior year … Earned two letters in soccer and was named captain his senior year … A Second-Team All-Pac 10 selection as a senior.
#52 – William Crepeault 5-11/190 – Goalie
Roxbury, N.J./Morris Catholic
Prior to Sacred Heart: A four-year letterwinner at Morris Catholic High School … Started all four years in goal … Named team MVP as a junior and a senior … Earned All-Division honors twice … Was also a four-year varsity starter for the hockey team.
#2 – Jonathan Gomer 5-8/170 – Midfield
Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury (Brewster Academy)
Prior to Sacred Heart: Played lacrosse and soccer at Duxbury High School … Duxbury won the 2010-11 and 2011-12 Massachusetts State Championships … Earned the lacrosse coaches award at Duxbury … Also played lacrosse and soccer at Brewster Academy.
#32 – Matthew Guerrisi 6-2/195 – Defense
Sound Beach, N.Y./Rocky Point
Prior to Sacred Heart: A three-year letterwinner at Rocky Point High School … Named captain … Also lettered in football and wrestling … A two-year wrestling captain, Guerrisi was also named All-league three times and All-County once.
#44 – Daniel Johnson 5-9/160 Defense
West Islip, N.Y./West Islip
Prior to Sacred Heart: A three-year letterwinner at West Islip High School … Named captain his senior season, also earning All-Division accolades … Part of county champion team and Long Island finalist in 2011 … Member of county champion, Long Island champion, and New York Class A State Champion team in 2012 … Also earned three letters in football, captaining an undefeated league champion in 2012 … Honored with the All-American Rivalry Series Student-Athlete Award during the 2012 football season.
#4 – Bryce Jurk 6-0/180 Midfield
Burlington, Ontario/Trinity-Pawling (N.Y.)
Prior to Sacred Heart: A two-year letterwinner at Trinity Pawling … Earned All-Founders League honors his junior year an All-New England honors his senior year … Named a tri-captain his senior year … Also played hockey and football.

Prior to Sacred Heart: Played four seasons of lacrosse at Loyola Blakefield … Team won MIAA State Championship in 2013 … Also played football.

Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West
Prior to Sacred Heart: A three-year letterwinner in lacrosse at Smithtown West High School … A two-time All-League selection as Smithtown West reached the county final in 2011 and 2013 … Named team captain for 2013 season … Also earned two letters in hockey, reaching county final in 2011 and winning the county championship in 2012.

Prior to Sacred Heart: A three-year letterwinner in lacrosse at Comsewogue High School … An All-County selection his junior hear … Named captain his senior year, as well as Honorable Mention All-American … Was also a three-year letterwinner on the soccer team, earning All-Conference honors as a senior.
#10 – Jerome Rigor 5-7/160 – Attack
Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill
Prior to Sacred Heart: A four-year letterwinner at Foothill High School … Led Foothill in points and assists as a sophomore … Also led the team and the league in points and assists as a junior, earning First-Team All-League and All-American status … Became Foothill’s all-time leader in points as a senior, leading the team in goals and assists … Named First-Team All-League as a senior … Was twice named All-East Bay and was team captain his junior and senior seasons … Also played football.
#11 – Christian Turri 5-11/160 – Midfield
