Men’s recruits: Lehigh adds Oppenheimer (Germantown Academy) among three walk-ons,

The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team has announced it has added three walk-ons to its 2013-14 roster. They are:

#6 Billy Oppenheimer

Major: Arts and Sciences
Hometown: Conshohocken, Pa.
High School: Germantown Academy

WHY LEHIGH? “I wanted a school that would challenge me in the classroom and on the lacrosse field. Lehigh has an outstanding academic reputation, combined with a lacrosse program that is building a tradition of winning.”

AT QUINNIPIAC (2013): Got into nine games at Quinnipiac, posting 13 points (five goals and eight assists) … Named to the NEC All-Rookie Team … Scored two goals and added an assist at Fairfield (3/19) for first-career points … Posted a career-high four points (two goals, two assists) just four days later at Binghamton (3/23) … Had one goal and three assists against Mount St. Mary’s (4/6) … Helped lead Quinnipiac to a 3-2 conference record and NEC Tournament appearance … Member of the Dean’s List.

BEFORE LEHIGH: Standout at Germantown Academy … Three-year starter at attack … Was fourth in the state as a junior with 107 points behind 50 goals and 57 assists … Named Honorable Mention All-Interac … As a senior, earned Second Team All-Inter-Ac honors, posting 45 goals and 47 assists … Was twice a Philly Showcase Fab 40 selection … Also a four-year varsity hockey player … Two-time undefeated league champions (as a sophomore and junior) … Second Team All-League as a junior … Senior captain and First Team All-League selection … Played water polo as a senior.

BEFORE LEHIGH: Four-sport athlete at Hopewell Valley Central High School in crew, ice hockey, track & field and lacrosse … Two-time letterwinner in lacrosse … Selected to play for the 2007 New Jersey All-State Team … Set the school record in the 4X800 meter and the distance medley relay … Competed on the Lehigh men’s track & field and cross country teams during the 2010-11 seasons, running the 800 meter as main event … Played club ice hockey for the New Jersey Kings and New Jersey Rockets … Received the U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award senior year … Four-year honor roll student.
