Maplezone Sports Institute (MSI) has made a power move in the lacrosse training industry by adding local MLL and NLL standout Bill McGlone.

Hailing from Ridley Township, McGlone found glory on the lacrosse field as a two-time high school All-American (2001-02). Legendary Ridley lacrosse coach, Doug Ellers, was quoted as saying, “Billy is one of the finest in a long line of tough Ridley lacrosse players.”

McGlone was also a two-time All-American midfielder at the University of Maryland (2005-06) and team captain during his junior and senior year. He has played at the highest collegiate and professional levels, and has been regarded as one of the most versatile lacrosse players based on his indoor and outdoor accomplishments. McGlone was drafted by the Baltimore Bayhawks as the 5th overall pick in the 2006 MLL draft. Most recently, he played indoor for the Philadelphia Wings (2010-11) and outdoor for the Denver Outlaws and Boston Cannons.

MSI Lacrosse Director, Jeff Murray, is thrilled with the latest addition to his staff.

“We are looking for Billy Mac to be our leader in player development,” Murray said. “We feel he brings a brand of lacrosse that not only teaches outdoor skill sets but also incorporates indoor techniques.”

“He has proven himself as an avid indoor and outdoor player, watching him play and seeing his athleticism makes you realize the level of training required.”

Murray and McGlone share a training vision that bridges the gap between just simply showing up to play versus weekly training and preparing to go out and do battle.

“I have coached and trained at numerous places and it wasn’t until now that I have finally found a place that captures a complete vision for training,” said McGlone. “It’s a grind out there on the field, especially during the summer tournament months when college coaches are looking to see what separates the average player from the elite.

“By training and preparing you can find confidence in knowing you’re ready to compete at a high level.”

McGlone continued,“I didn’t have all of these training outlets when I was coming through the ranks. Nobody was measuring and tracking player development. The sport of lacrosse is ever growing and one of the goals is to have professional lacrosse recognized in the mainstream media with the likes of the NFL, NBA, MLB and why not NLL and MLL…”

There’s something special at MSI, a place to train and call your home, an indoor and outdoor facility focused on meeting your training needs and providing each player with a vehicle to help them reach the next level. The MSI training vision fits exactly what today’s lacrosse athlete needs, a structured, consistent environment capable of offering a variety of training opportunities.
