Downingtown East (STEM) senior goalie Haleigh Wurzel has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Mercer University.
Haleigh Wurzel log:
High School: Downingtown STEM Academy (plays for East)
Graduation Year: 2014
Position: Goalie
College Choice: Mercer University
Club Affiliation: PA Express 2014 Blue
Major lacrosse honors: 3rd Team Ches-Mont
What will you major in/study? Pre-Med with a major in Biology
Why did you choose Mercer? “I choose Mercer because the coaches and girls made me feel extremely welcomed. Coach Eve Levinson (Germantown Academy grad and former coach at PSU-Abington, Bryn Mawr) was nothing but welcoming and I like that she used to play goalie. It’s an opportunity to help start a new program and that is very exciting to me. As such a young team I am thrilled for the chance to begin a strong program. I also really like the strong Pre-Med program available at Mercer.”
Outlook for your High School team? “This year for High School is very exciting, we are looking to have a strong record and compete against top teams in Ches Mont. Hopefully we do end up with a successful season and advance pretty far into the post season.”
Additional Comments: “I would like to thank my parents for always giving me nothing but there support as I began to explore my options as a goalie in lacrosse. I would also like to thank the coaching staff at Downingtown East for helping me recognize my talents as a goalkeeper and developing into the player I am today.”
