Alissa Watts and Kelli Joran (Downingtown East) each scored three goals and Emily Duffey (Lenape) had the game-winner as the Drexel women’s lacrosse team defeated William and Mary, 11-9, Friday in its first Colonial Athletic Association opener.
Duffey had two goals and an assist and Elyse Maiden (Washington Township) had a goal and an assist for Drexel (8-3, 1-0).
Kyrstin Mackrides (Villa Maria Academy) had two goals and an assist to lead W&M (3-8. 0-2).
Temple 18, St. Bonaventure 3
Charlotte Swavola (Cheltenham) had a career-high six goals as the Owls defeated visiting St. Bonaventure. Temple (7-4, 2-0) did the majority of its damage in the first half, scoring 15 goals including six in the first five minutes.
Stephany Parcell (Interboro) and Kelly Syphard scored three goals apiece, with Parcell and Swavola each adding an assist as well.
Syracuse 19, Villanova 7
Kelly Cross (Upper Dublin) had two goals, Michelle Tumolo (Clearview Regional) had a goal and three assists and Amy Cross (Upper Dublin) scored once while Kasey Mock (Pottstown) had a groundball and a caused turnover to lead the defense for the Orange (6-3, 2-0) in the Big East win at Villanova.
Jackie Froccaro led the Wildcats (5-5, 1-1) with four goals and two assists.
James Madison 8, Delaware 4
Sophomore Caitlin McCartney (Archbishop Wood) led UD (6-5, 0-2 CAA) with one goal, one assist, one groundball, one draw control and one caused turnover.
Freshmen McKenzie Rafferty (Downingtown East) and Abigail Wheble (Avon Grove) each posted a team-best three groundballs while Rafferty added a goal for Delaware.
Steph Finley (Sacred Heart Academy) scored once for James Madison.
Denver 14, Stanford 10
Demver senior Kate Henrich (Germantown Academy) tied both DU’s and the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation’s single-game records with eight caused turnovers and added her first-career assist, leading the No. 20 Pioneers (12-1, 4-0) to a 14-10 win over No. 10 Stanford.
DU’s all-time leader with 147 career caused turnovers, Henrich matched former Pioneer Kelly O’Connell, who also caused eight turnovers against Stanford on April 20, 2008. Henrich moved into eighth in NCAA history in career caused turnovers and also recorded her 48th caused turnover this season, breaking the team record she set last year. Henrich added three ground balls and two draw controls.

Tori Dugan (Bayard Rustin) scored five goals and posted seven points while also controlling the faceoff circle with seven draw controls as the second-ranked Rams rolled.
West Chester (7-0, 4-0 PSAC) remains in first place with the win over Gannon (6-2, 3-1 PSAC), who entered the contest tied with the Rams.
Lauren Glassey (Henderson) finished with four points in the game. She had a hand in all four of West Chester’s goals to open the contest. She assisted on tallies by Jamie Dolan and Dugan, before scoring back-to-back markers on free positions.
