Matt Rambo had five goals and an assist and Colin MacDougall made 12 saves as host La Salle toppled Radnor 12-8 today in a battle of the top-rated PIAA teams in the Rankings.

La Salle, ranked No. 3, improved to 15-2 while sixth-ranked Radnor closed its regular season at 15-3.

The Explorers seized a 6-2 lead and led 12-5 until the Red Raiders struck for three late goals.
“It’s just a little confidence builder. This whole week, we’ve been working so hard and to come out and play really well for three quarters – I wouldn’t say four quarters, three solid quarters – it’s good. But I think we can work better and I think we can work smarter on the field.

Rambo was asked if the win gives his team an edge heading into the post season.

“It’s definitely a confidence-builder,” he said.

Sean Coleman and Jeff Cimbalista each had two goals and two assists for the Explorers, who overcame a strong game at the face-off X by Radnor’s Jake Shapiro (17 of 21).

“With Sean back, it pops off a lot of pressure,” said Rambo of Coleman, who came back three weeks ago from a football-related injury. “I got one early. I was just dodging and my shots were falling today. I was surprised.”

Jack Wilson led the Raiders with three goals and Mike Cherry had two goals and an assist while Connor Burns added a goal and an assist.
