Bandits Lacrosse Club is relaunching this Fall as one of the area’s elite youth-only lacrosse clubs, offering teams from 3rd through 8th grade.
The Bandits have also relocated to a permanent home at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (SCHA) where they will train year round. Finally, SCHA Athletic Director and Head Boys Lacrosse Coach, Mike DelGrande, joins the Bandits as Director of Coaching.
Tryout/Orientation Dates
Bandits Lacrosse Club looks forward to welcoming all interested players currently in 3rd – 8th grade to upcoming tryout and orientation sessions. The sessions will take place at SCHA:
• September 21st from 3:30 – 6:00pm
• September 22nd from 1:00 to 4:00pm
Players are encouraged to attend both sessions, however we understand that families may have conflicts on one day or the other.
A New Tradition of Youth Development
Starting this fall, the Bandits will transition to a youth-only lacrosse club, with the oldest Bandits team competing at the 8th grade level.
Said Bandits co-Administrator Marty Kupprion, “On observing the club lacrosse landscape, we have reached the conclusion that lacrosse clubs must decide whether they are programs that focus on youth development, or on high school recruiting, as it is almost impossible to do both effectively.
“We decided we are going to be a great youth development club. We believe having a great training facility at SCHA, the continuation of an excellent coaching tradition, and a concentrated focus on developing youth players, will make Bandits Lacrosse a truly special place to play.”
An Elite Facility to Call Home
The Bandits will be moving to a new permanent home, practicing and training on the new all-turf complex at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. The move to an elite turf complex takes weather out of the equation, and will give Bandits players the ongoing opportunity to hone their skills, rain or shine.
A New Director of Coaching & Club Administrators
As part of the move, the Bandits welcome SCHA Athletic Director & Head Boy’s Lacrosse Coach Mike DelGrande aboard as the Bandits new Director of Coaching. Coach DelGrande has spent his career developing a coaching and managing skill set that will be essential to the growth of our staff and players.
Additionally, Marty Kupprion and Warren Danenza join the Bandits as co-Administrators, responsible for setting a high standard for parent communication. Kupprion is the Director of the High School division of NXT Lacrosse Club and is an Assistant Coach at Episcopal Academy, and Danenza is the NXT Lacrosse Club Administrator and is the Head Coach at Upper Darby High School. Both will be working diligently to handle all club administration tasks and communication with parents, as well as supporting all the Bandits coaches.
