Kelly Connors (Radnor) scored twice, twin sister Kacie Connors (Radnor) had a goal and three groundballs and defender Alyssa Dunlap (Radnor) had two caused turnovers as host Vanderbilt stunned No. 5 Duke, 7-5, in its women’s lacrosse opener today in Nashville.
The 19th-ranked Commodores (19th ranked) also got a groundball from Olivia Goodman (Agnes Irwin).
For Duke (2-1), Kim Wenger (Great Valley) had a goal and an assist and three groundballs and Taylor Trimble (Episcopal Academy) scored once and added a draw controls and a groundball. Emma Hamm (Baldwin School) added five draw controls, two caused turnovers and an assist while Amanda Jones (Germantown Academy) contributed a groundball and a draw control.

Emily Garrity (Strath Haven) scored once and added a draw control and a caused turnover for the No. 3 Tar Heels in their huge opening-day win over the No. 4 Gators. UNC defender Beth Ellis (Radnor) added a groundball and a draw control.

Aimee Gennaro (Archbishop Carroll) had two goals and Kathy Young (Villa Maria Academy) added a goal and an assist for the Mids in their opening-day loss.

Gabby Capuzzi (Archbishop Carroll) had three goals and two assists as the Buckeyes rolled to the win.
George Mason 19, St. Francis 9
Emily Ellisen (Great Valley) had four goals to lead George Mason to the win.
