Philly boys’ Recruiting Tournaments
Inaugural National Invitational Fall Select 175, invitation only showcase venue for the top boys’ lacrosse players in the classes of 2014, 2015 and 2016, Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Loomis Chaffee High School, Windsor Conn. – about 10 miles north of Hartford.

The National Invitational 175 Summer Showcase, invitation-only high school showcase, to be held in Upstate New York on July 29th – 31st, 2013.
Elite players in the classes of 2014, 2015 and 2016, that are interested in attending the showcase can click here to access more information on the National Invitational 175 Showcase website or click here to apply through a quick form.
There is no charge to apply. After you submit your application, you will need to forward the link to a coach that knows you and your ability so that he can provide a recommendation on your behalf.
Upon receiving your application and your coach’s recommendation, your application will be complete and you will be placed into a pool of candidates that will be considered for invitations.
The applications take only a few minutes to complete. The cut-off to submit your application will be October 15th, 2012. Anyone not applied by then will be placed onto a wait list. On October 20th, the National Invitational 175 summer showcase will send out its invitations to those players deemed most deserving and skilled enough to attend this showcase. Players invited will need to then register and pay on or before October 27th to secure their spot. The showcase is expected to attract coaches from well over 50 college programs in Division I and Division III based on last year’s event and interest in this Fall’s National Invitational Fall Select in November.

The 9th Annual Brian Houshower Memorial Tournament, Oct. 27 at Downingtown West Middle School, 8AM-5 PM. This tournament honors the memory of the former Downingtown High student-athlete, a budding lax player who passed away as a result of a car accident in 2003. The tourney features an “A” division (high school varsity level) and “B” division (HS JV level). Lake-Lehman Fall Classic 7-on-7 lacrosse tournament for boys and girls. This 2nd Annual 7-on-7 tournament will be held on Sunday, November 4th at Lake-Lehman High School. Cost is just $240 per team. Proceeds will support the LLHS teams which are 100% self-funded. Lake-Lehman HS is located about one hour north of Allentown – just outside of Wilkes-Barre. Travel will be considered when assigning start times. There will be eight divisions are as follows:

The 4th Annual Care for the Cure Lacrosse Tournament, November 10 at Henderson High. The tourney features boys’ and girls’ high school brackets. The tourney raises money for cancer organizations on behalf of Henderson grad and Duquesne student-athlete Caroline ‘Care’ Cranston who lost her life in a battle with AML Leukemia on May 8th of 2010. The tournament has donated to the likes of Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Caroline Gallagher Cranston Memorial Fund, Headstrong Foundation, and the Be The Match Organization. Care for the Cure promotes a family atmosphere with vendors, silent auction items, a DJ and much more. The site features 2 turf fields, and 4 other plush grass fields.

Strath Haven Fall Lax Fest, Sunday, November 11 at the Strath Haven High School & Middle School, in Wallingford. Rain date is Saturday, November 17. The format will be the same as in years past:

The 6th Annual Ricky Whelan Dukes Developmental Program, an instructional series that leads to the tryouts for the Duke’s Lacrosse Club. The program has one more Saturday, Oct. 6 (2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.) Coach Mark Duncan and the Shipley School Farm Fields will be hosting the clinic.
Walkup registration starts 1 hour early. This program is for intermediate to advanced high school players. Advanced 8th grade or 7th graders who wish to attend need to contact Coach Jason Christmas (JOHNJC32XMAS@aol.com). The clinics will be emphasizing high intensity drills and skill sets to improve players’ reaction time and decision making in unsettled/settled transition pressure situations. Up tempo pace will be encouraged defensively and offensively from 1v1 situations to 2v1 and mandown/manup scenarios all the way up to 6v6 settled sets. These sessions will give players preparation for the Dukes tryouts (Oct. 14) while improving lacrosse IQ and field sense. To receive a discount, it is encouraged to preregister for the clinics and avoid massive walkup lines at walkup registration.

Blue Devils Fall Lacrosse Clinics, for boys in Grades K through 8 (Ages 5 to 13 years) on Sundays, October 14th and 21st at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Stadium Field.

Blue Devil Fall Lacrosse Clinics will work to improve your son’s fundamental lacrosse skills (cradling, stick protection, passing, catching, shooting, and dodging), which will help prepare them for winter and spring league play.
Director: Mike DelGrande, who recently finished his third year as head coach at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. Prior to this he was the head lacrosse coach at the Bullis School (Md.) where he earned the Potomac Chapter of the National Interscholastic Lacrosse Association named him the Coach of the Year in 1998 and Man of the Year in 2001 and 2009. He was also the Washington Post All-Met Coach of the Year in 2002. He was inducted into the Potomac Chapter of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2010.

NXTsports’ Cradle Lacrosse Six-Week Fall Programs for boys and girls, Weekend of September 29-30. This educational program for the area’s youngest lacrosse players is designed to teach basic lacrosse skills to 4-8 year olds in a fun, energizing and supportive environment. All equipment is provided for the kids, and the curriculum is designed to teach the basics of lacrosse to youngsters in an age-appropriate and fun way. Over 400 kids have participated in Cradle Lacrosse over the last year. This Fall Cradle Lacrosse sessions will be held at: Friends Select, Philadelphia, PA. For boys and girls age 4-8. Brodie Merrill’s Defensive Academy, October 26-28, on the turf fields of Shipley’s mainline campus for boys ages 8-18. The event is hosted by the Shipley School; program is designed to focus on the skills required by every defenseman to excel in their position and will focus on developing lacrosse “IQ”, strengthening stick and footwork skills and more. This three day event will begin on Friday night from 7-9pm; Saturday 9am-3pm; concluding on Sunday from 9am-1pm, followed by an NCAA recruiting workshop from 1-3pm for players ages 13 and up. Each participant will receive a Wings pinnie and lanyard; there will be prizes given away courtesy of Reebok. The event is sponsored by the Philadelphia Wings and Reebok Lacrosse. This specialized skill development camp is for defensemen who want to take their game to another level.
Camp Objectives include: Body Position, Stick Skills, Stick Checks, Footwork, Game IQ, presence, leadership, NCAA recruiting process seminar, Reebok gear giveaways, Bonus: Athlete’s nutrition workshop. The event is being run in conjunction with the Mark Duncan Goalie Stick Work/Shooting Clinic. Both clinics will combine on Sunday for 2 hours.
