Reilly Hupfeldt (Haverford School) erupted for five goals as Team Philly took over first place in the Red Division today by whipping the South, 15-8, in the Under Armour Underclassmen Games at Towson University.

Philly is now 3-0 with one game left in pool play, tomorrow against Long Island (2-1). Philly is guaranteed a playoff berth. Long Island was upset this afternoon by Upstate New York, 12-9.
Also for Philly, Paul Major (Spring-Ford) had two goals and two assists and Tanner Peck (Avon Grove) each twice while Sean Coleman (La Salle) had a goal and an assist. Austin Pifani (Abington), Peter Donato (Radnor), Chris Hilburn (Malvern Prep), Jimmy Murphy (Hatboro-Horsham) and Brandyn O’Connell (Downingtown East) each added single goals and Matt Rambo (La Salle) had three assists. Kevin Leyden (Haverford High) had one assist.

In goal, Robbie Zonino (Conestoga) was outstanding with nine saves in the second half. Matt Barrett (Malvern Prep) had two saves in the first half. Zach Penfil (Garnet Valley) and Mark Gurenlian (Springfield-Delco) each stood out at the face-off X.

Earlier in the day, Rambo scored the game-winner for the second day in a row as Team Philly edged New England, 6-5.

Rambo, who had the game-winner late in Friday’s 9-8 victory over Upstate New York, tallied the go-ahead goal today early in the fourth quarter as Philly’s defense and goaltending was standout in the victory.

Rambo finished with a goal and an assist and other goals were scored by Coleman, Peck, O’Connell, Leyden and Hilburn. Narrett and Zonino shared the goaltending duties and were equally strong.

Also for Team Philly, fPenfil (Garnet Valley) and Gurenlian were keys at the face-off X and middies Murphy, Donato and Trupert Ortlieb (Episcopal Academy) were also major factors. The Philly defensemen and long poles were essential in shutting out New England in the final quarter.

Philly shoots for a 3-0 mark this afternoon against the South at 4 p.m. and a win could set up a first-place showdown in the red division with undefeated Long Island Sunday morning.
