Thursday’s lacrosse wrap: Springside Chestnut Hill boys roll; Shipley girls down Baldwin School

Jackson Kleintz had six goals and one assist and Tasso Karras added five goals and an assist as Springside Chestnut Hill (2-0) dominated Wilmington Christian, 18-2, today in non-league boys’ lacrosse.

Shipley 17, Baldwin 12

Shipley (2-0, 0-0 FSL) was the first to tally, just 30 seconds into the game on a goal by senior Avery Safford, assisted by classmate Teddy Chase. Baldwin answered back right away to even the score. With about 11 minutes left in the first half, the Gators found themselves tied 4-4. At that point, the Gators went on a seven goal scoring streak before Baldwin was able to tally again giving Shipley the 11-5 lead at the half.

Leading the way for the Gators was junior Sophie Katz with five goals and one assist, followed closely by Safford and freshman Rachel Shapiro who each had three goals and one assist. Senior Sophie Cummins had two goals and two assists, junior Carlie Ladda had two goals, senior Caroline Anapol had one goal and two assists and Chase Stewart added one goal and two assists.

The Gators leave Friday for Disney Spring Training when they will play Buchholz (FL) and Poly Prep (NY) before returning.
