Senior midfielder Alyssa Thren (/Upper Perkiomen) scored five of her game-high seven goals in the first half as Ursinus (3-1) routed Cabrini (1-1) 19-3 in women’s lacrosse play Thursday afternoon.
Thren also picked up four assists on the day, as the Bears held a 13-2 lead at halftime and never looked back.
Freshman midfielder Kitty Dawson pitched in with three goals, with senior attack Emily Diehl (/Voorhees), junior midfielder Elizabeth Chatburn (Upper Dublin) and junior attack Lauren Garganio (Shawnee) each doing for two. Diehl also tossed in two assists.
Defensively, Thren had six ground balls, with junior midfielder Megan Horney (St. Mark’s) going for four. Thren had two caused turnovers.
Senior attack Kim Peifer (Methacton) had five draw controls as Ursinus had a 14-8 advantage in that category.
In goal, freshman Alexandra Duch had four saves in the first third, while junior Jackie Kimmel (Hatboro-Horsham) (five saves) and sophomore Riley Pembroke (one save) saw action in the second half.
Swarthmore 18, Widener 8
Junior Annalise Penikis (Strath Haven) led the offensive charge for the winning Garnet (3-1) with five goals and two assists. Junior Nicole Vanchieri added four goals and two assists and junior Corinne Sommi had three goals and one assist. Other goal scorers include freshman Sara Lentrichhia (3), Lucy Whitacre (2), and Emma Sipperly (1).
For the Pride, junior Julia Costello led the team with three goals. Junior Laura Kalbech and senior Jen Harnden each scored two goals.

Attack Kalin Hodel scored six goals, including the 100th goal in her career, to lead Philadelphia University to a win over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Chestnut Hill.
Hodel, who only dished out two assists, scored her milestone goal with 13:20 left in the first half after receiving a pass from midfielder Caribeth Shappell that made the score 8-3.
Attack Taylor Peltzer (Archbishop Wood) found the back of the net five times during a 14-1 run that stretched across halves that turned a 4-3 contest into a 18-4 game with 14:36 left. Attack Emily Ray scored two of her four goals in that outburst.
Elizabeth Marrosu, Lauren Hartman, Allison Brian, Hannah Kuranz and Carli DiCioccio also scored for the Lady Rams (2-1, 2-1 CACC). Shappell racked up six assists.
Ellen Wright was the winning goalie after making four saves and picking up a team-high five ground balls in 51:18 between the pipes.
Kelly McKay netted three goals for Chestnut Hill (0-2, 0-1 CACC), while Nicole Covella had two goals and one assist.
Jenn Delahanty stopped 11 shots during her 42:06 in the Griffins’ net, while Jessica Pennell had three saves.
