Albright College will host the annual Berks County Coaches Clinic at Albright College on Sunday, January 29th.
The clinic will feature both boys’ and girls’ coaches’ clinics. The clinic is being sponsored by the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association to help promote the growth of lacrosse in Berks County.
On the men’s side, the event is also designed to help raise awareness for the men’s programs at Alvernia University and Albright College, which, under Coach Jake Plunket, will field a team for the first time in the 2012 season. Local co-sponsors of the clinic include Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex and Play It Again Sports (Wyomissing).
The clinic will be held in the Scholl Life Sports Center at Albright and will be an “on the field” clinic in the indoor fieldhouse. Coaches attending the clinic are encouraged to bring their lacrosse stick.
They are also asked to collect and bring equipment donations from their teams if possible (sticks, heads, shafts, goggles – no helmets though) for refurbishing and donation to support the PLA’s initiatives with the Philadelphia School District, which, with PLA support, will add 2 new high school teams on both the boys and girls side this season, despite cutbacks.
The event will start with a Continental Breakfast, courtesy of the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association. There will be drawings for door prizes (must be present to win). The speakers for the boy’s clinic are Jake Plunket (head coach, Albright College), Johnny Mouradian (head coach, Philadelphia Wings), and John Haus (head coach, Lebanon Valley College). Additional details and the program curriculum will be forthcoming.
The clinic is free for youth and high school coaches or anyone interested in attending. Coaches who are current members of US Lacrosse can receive 3 continuing education credits through US Lacrosse for attending any of these clinics. There will be a registration table at the clinic for coaches interested in receiving credit.
Please tell your colleagues to help get the word out about the event. Make sure you arrive early for the breakfast. Please register to attend by contacting Coach Plunket so we can get some feedback on what numbers to expect!
