Phillylacrosse.com Girls’ Rankings: Season heats up with some big games this week

The season kicks into high gear this week as No. 1 Moorestown travels to Washington Township Saturday and No. 2 Garnet Valley host No. 5 Radnor in a key Central League game.

Radnor also travels to play two national powers in the St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes Playday Saturday and Archbishop Carroll hosts undefeated Georgetown Visitation Saturday.

This week’s rankings:

1, Moorestown (3-0) – The Quakers have yet to be tested, but should get a battle Saturday when they play at Washington Township: No. 1

2, Garnet Valley (6-0) – The Jags host No. 5 Radnor Tuesday and travel to Penncrest Thursday in Central League games. Prev: No. 2

3, Great Valley (5-0) – The Patriots – coming off a big 21-17 scorefest win over Radnor – host Downingtown East Tuesday and play at Downingtown West Thursday.. Prev: No. 3

4, Harriton (6-0) – The Rams coasted in two games at the AmLax Challenge in St. Petersburg, Fla., whipping Holy Child (Md.), 17-4, and Barron Collier (Fla.), 20-7. They host Penncrest Tuesday in the Central League. Prev: No. 4

5, Radnor (4-1) – The Red Raiders have a busy week against top competition. They play at Garnet Valley Tuesday and meet two top teams Saturday at the St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes Playday – Notre Dame Prep (Md.) and Rumson-Fair Haven (N.J.) . Prev: No. 5

6, Shawnee (2-0) – The Renegades Host Cherokee in a key rivalry game Thursday. Prev: No. 6

7, Springfield-Delco (4-1) – The Cougars have two big Central League road games, Tuesday at Strath Haven and Thursday at Conestoga. Prev: No. 7.

8, Archbishop Carroll (2-3) – The Patriots have definitely taken on some top non-league teams this year. They lost to Vero Beach (Fla.), 11-10, and Milton (Ga.), 19-18, at the AmLax Challenge and host undefeated Georgetown Visitation (D.C.) on Saturday. Prev: No. 8

9, Conestoga (3-1) – The Pioneers play at Lower Merion Tuesday and host Springfield-Delco Thursday. Prev: No. 9

10, Notre Dame (3-0) – The Fighting Irish host Baldwin School Tuesday and Agnes Irwin Friday in the inter-Ac League. Prev: No. 10

Honorable mention: Boyertown (3-2), Council Rock North (4-1), Episcopal Academy (2-2), Haverford High (5-1), Hatboro-Horsham (6-0), Merion Mercy (4-0), Mount St. Joseph (4-2), North Penn (4-1), Upper Dublin (2-1), Washington Township (2-0).
