Key Returnees:
3 Division I bound attackmen:
Tyler Brooke – 2nd team all CL attackman, and ESPN Rise Honorable Mention All American. Scored 30+ goals last season. Is healthy and looks to have put on strength in this off season.
Brad Lord – 1st team all central attackman, and offensive player of the year for our team
Connor Frisina – 1st team all central, All-American as a junior.
Midfielders: Adam Goins, Mike McGregor, Jordan Klunder, Zach Gregory – all return from impressive junior seasons. Mike is a dangerous shooter. Adam is explosive dodger who can shoot on the run and create. Zach and Jordan can do it all from both ends of the field. They are the heart and soul of a midfield that graduates two top players, Tanner Scott (Duke) and Billy Flatley (Gtown).
LSM: Miles Thomas (senior) and Tim Langerhans (junior) both guys will fill the shoes of player of the central league and AA LSM, Brian Dailey (Duke) – Players like Brian don’t come around that often, but Miles brings a similar edge to our team. Expect him to make big plays and Tim to also give the Pioneers a lift defensively.
Face-off man: Jared Jacobs (Kenyon bound) will take more face off’s this year, splitting duties with Zach Gregory. Jared has a motor that runs all day and he plays with great energy.
Defense: Jamie Ikeda will lead the defense with physical play and savvy stick work. Carson Scott will deliver the physical and terrific fundamental play that he is known for. Expect strong competition and rotation for the 3rd spot between standout Hockey player, Zach Paro and 2 juniors Nick Prestipino and Nick Reitnour.
Newcomers:
Andrew Destefano – junior midfielder and football standout, Andrew Destafano focused on lacrosse in the off season. He will be a contributor to the midfield and will be needed to defend and help get the ball out of our end.
There will be much competition for a 2nd midline spot. We have new faces in Pierre Atkinson (soph), Christian Giubilatto (soph) Andrew Rudd (jr) all vying for playing time.
2012 Outlook: “We hope to continue our tradition of excellence. We loaded up the non-league schedule and are fortunate and excited to go against some of the best teams in the country. We hope these contests make us battle tested for another shot at the league title, and post season run. Our boys will know that they are entitled to nothing. It will take hard work and daily improvement to get back there again.”
