Mesa Fresh 2016 claims team title in Field Division at Philadelphia Indoor Lacrosse Championships

Mesa Fresh 2016 claimed the Field Division title in the 7th-8th Grade class at the Philadelphia Indoor Lacrosse Championships Sunday at the Sportsplex in Feasterville.

Mesa 2016 won the PILC 7th-8th Grade Field title. The team featured (bottom, from left) Dox Aitken, Sean McKee, Michael Sowers, Kyle Anderson; (top) Coach Dave Sowers, Tyler Will, Jack Marshall, Forry Smith, Luke Desperito, Beau Kush, Patrick Lyons, West McLaughlin, Tommy McNamara, Alex DeMarko, Nick Cardile, Andrew Westby, Coach Brian Wall. Also coaching but not attending were Dave Brumbauer and Adam Mueller.

Mesa Fresh defeated the Patriot Missiles (N.J.), 16-8, in the finals. Jags Lacrosse placed fourth after falling to the Patriot Cannons, 17-15, in the third-place consolation game.

Mesa Fresh 2016 featured Dox Aitken, Sean McKee, Michael Sowers, Kyle Anderson, Tyler Will, Jack Marshall, Forry Smith, Luke Desperito, Beau Kush, Patrick Lyons, West McLaughlin, Tommy McNamara, Alex DeMarko, Nick Cardile, Andrew Westby, Coaches Dave Sowers and Brian Wall. Also coaching but not attending were Dave Brumbauer and Adam Mueller.

“We were so proud to see them play so unselfish,” Sowers said. “I like dot watch how they bonded together and really enjoyed being together.”

In the 7th-8th grade Box Lacrosse Division, Leading Edge (NJ) 2016 downed CYLax (Conestoga Youth), 7-4, in the finals. Meanwhile, the Delaware Dragons earned an 11-6 win over Leading Edge 2017 in the third-place game and the Wet Bandits nipped the NOVA Generals (VA), 12-11, in the fifth-place game.

In the 5th-6th Grade class, the Patriot Rifles outlasted Leading Edge-Pinto, 12-11, for the title.

The PILC, run by NXT Tournaments and Victory Events, was co-sponsored by the American Indoor Lacrosse Association and the Philadelphia Wings. The Wings’ General Manager and Head Coach, Johnny Mouradian, also gave a free clinic saturday on Box Lacrosse with local Wings standout Bill McGlone (Ridley).
