Graduation year: 2013

College choice: University of Pennsylvania

Position: Midfielder

Club affiliations: Mesa Fresh 2013, Duke’s L.C.

Lacrosse honors: ESPNHS Class of 2013 Watchlist, Philly Showcase Gait Fab 40, 2010-11, EPSLA Showcase, 2011.

Why did you choose Penn? “Coach (Mike) Murphy made it really easy – he made me feel at home. I wanted to challenge myself academically. Also, I love being in the city, it’s the perfect place (to go to college).”

HS team’s outlook for 2012: “Everyone is working hard this off season. We have real high expectations for this year. (Haverford School) had a great team last year and I think this is our year.”

Other comments: “I’d like to thank my family first, and then coach (David) Metzbower, coach Ebe Helm and coach Jason Christmas (of Dukes), coach Jim Schorn, coach John Sims (Mesa Fresh), coach Tom Dunn, and my teammates.”

Other info: Hilburn is the sixth junior and seventh underclassman at Malvern Prep to commit to a Division I college. The others are juniors Matt Barrett (goalie, Virginia), Joey Carlini (midfielder, Johns Hopkins), Jared Horoski (defenseman, Delaware), Chad Rafferty, Malvern Prep (defenseman, Maryland) and Gavin Weaver (midfielder, Delaware) and sophomore Greg Pelton (defenseman, Duke). In addition, six members of the Class of 2012 at Malvern Prep have committed to Division I schools and five to Division III colleges.
