Saint Joseph’s freshman Michael Dougherty (Malvern Prep) was chosen as the men’s lacrosse Rookie of the Week in the Colonial Athletic Association for his performance against VMI. He netted one goal and had one assist in the winning effort.

Dougherty’s goal in the second quarter of Saturday’s game gave the Hawks a 6-4 lead and helped sure the victory over the Keydets. SJU went on to win 12-4, snapping a 14-game losing skid as head coach Taylor Wray picked up his first collegiate win with the Crimson and Gray.
The Hawks will go for their second straight victory on Saturday when they visit Wagner for a 2:00 p.m. start.
