Penn Charter rising senior LSM-face-off specialist Charles Giunta has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at St. Joseph’s University.
Charles Giunta log:
High School: William Penn Charter
Graduation Year: 2013
Position: LSM/FO
College Choice: Saint Joseph’s University
Club Affiliation: Dukes LC
Major lacrosse honors, Camps: EPSLA Showcase, Rising Junior Private Team, Jake Reed Nike Blue Chip (Rising Sophomore and Junior), Top 205 Rising Junior, Philly Showcase, Dukes 1- Champ Camp
and Tri-State Champions, Brine Shootout, MVP tournament
Academic honors: Honor Roll
What will you major in/study? Education or Business
Why did you choose the school? “I chose Saint Joe’s because I felt as though the University provided me with the best mixture of academics, athletics, and social life. When I went for my visit, I instantly fell in love with SJU. Coach (Taylor) Wray and Coaches (Dan and Mike) Keating were great and have a positive idea of where the program is going in the next few years. I felt that Coach Wray has the ability to push me to my highest potential as an athlete while also help shape me into a man. Also, I liked the idea of staying close to home. It’s only about 15 minutes away from my house in South Philly.”
Outlook for 2013 HS season: “Though we lose some key seniors we have a lot of rising juniors and sophomores who have shown their ability to play. We want to win the Inter-Ac and the Iter-Ac Invitational and if we put in the hard work there is no reason why we can’t prove to everyone that we are one of the best teams in the country.”
Other schools considered: Wagner, Saint Johns, Monmouth, Salisbury, Dickinson
Other comments: “First and foremost I’d like to thank my two Penn Charter coaches Pat McDonough and Billy McKinney. Coach McDonough has been a great help not only in the recruiting process and on the field but also off the field and supporting me in the classroom. Coach McKinney really helped shape me into the best LSM I could be and always was a great coach and friend along the way. I’d like to thank the whole Dukes LC mainly Coach Ebe (Helm), Coach Jason Christmas, Coach (Mike) Mackrides, Coach (Matt) Baker, and Coach (Chris) Fallon. I’d also like to thank my youth league coach Rich Rambo. Without him I wouldn’t be half of the person I am. Special thank you to Coach Harry Sankey for always pushing me to my full potential. Lastly, I’d like to thank my wonderful mother and my best pal Jimmy for always supporting me. Couldn’t have done it without them. I’d also like to thank my Dad.”
