Anthony Gabriele has resigned as head boys’ lacrosse coach at Wissahickon.
Gabriele, who will become an assistant to newly-hired Haldy Gifford (see story), stepped down to concentrate on completing his administrative degree and to spend more time with his family.
Gabriele and his wife are expecting twins this spring. He is also teaching classes at the University of Pennsylvania.
Gabriele had two stints as Trojans coach, first from 2000-2001 and then from 2008-11. He also started the Wissahickon middle school program in 2005.
His career varsity record was 55-52 (47-23 in the league) and he guided the Trojans to a share of the Suburban One American Conference title in 2010.
In the past four years, seven Trojans coached by Gabriele went on to play varsity college lacrosse and five moved on to play at the club level. Also, 100% of his graduates went on to study at Higher Education Institutions.
