Former Upper Dublin coach Jon Levine has been named head boys’ lacrosse coach at Council Rock North.

Levine led Upper Dublin to a 12-7 record and a second-place finish last year in the Suburban One American Conference. Levin also guided Upper Dublin to undefeated league titles in 2007 and 2009. The Cards shared the league crown with Methacton in 2008. His overall record was 102-62.

Levine takes over a squad that went 10-9 last year under Joe Kivlen and has reached the District 1 tournament each of the past two years.

“I couldn’t stay away from coaching and I was lucky to have the opportunity to get on the field with another program,” said Levine. “I want the kids to motivate themselves and get the (best out of themselves). After meeting with them, I see they are willing to do that.

“They have made the playoff the last few years and that’s a good foundation to walk into.”

Levine said he expects the Indians to challenge league powers Abington and Pennsbury in the Suburban One National Conference.

“With that comes work,” he said. “They will need to work hard; they know where they want to get to and what they want to attain.

“We have a good foundation and a strong group of seniors. They are very, very motivated and they want to be a part of something big. Our goal is to compete for a league championship.”

Levine said his coaching philosophy is based on teamwork and balance.

“I stress teamwork either way, offensively and defensively; not one person is going to do it,” he said. “You might have to sacrifice your ego a little bit. You’ve got to trust guy next to you. If you work within a system, you can compete with anybody.”

What style will his offense play?

“I hope a little bit of everything,” Levine said. “I will figure out what talents we have and maximize those talents as far as the type of offense and defense we are going to play.”

Levin said he wants the Indians to have no regrets when they leave the field.

“I expect these kids to feel that every time they played they know they gave 110 percent,” he said.
