Several Central Pennsylvania grads helped host Jacksonville defeat Navy, 13-7, Sunday in the Moe’s Southwest Grille Classic men’s lacrosse action at EverBank Field in front of 6,100 fans.
Sophomore goaltender Peter DeLuca (Penn Manor) posted 17 saves and led the defense with many key stops. Freshman attackman Quint Miller (Manheim Township) and freshman middie Rob Wertz (Manheim Township) each scored once for Jacksonville, which improved to 1-1.
Junior attacker T.J. Kenary scored two of his four goals in the second period as the Dolphins (1-1) outscored the Midshipmen 6-1 in the period.
The win was the first at Jacksonville for new coach Guy Van Arsdale (former Penn State assistant), who was hired last summer.
The Dolphins roster also includes juniors Dan Jones (Penncrest, attackman), Jack Morrison (Lower Merion, middie) and Jimmy Trentini (Upper Dublin, attackman).
The Dolphins travel to Duke Sunday.
