Mount St. Joseph senior attack Laura Pacheco has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Union Coillege (N.Y.).

Laura Pacheco log:

Laura Pacheco

High School: Mount Saint Joseph Academy

Graduation Year: 2012

Position: Attack, Midfield and Defense

College Choice: Union College

Club Affiliation: Ultimate Goal Lacrosse

Major lacrosse honors: 2012 Lacrosse Captain, 2011 ESPN Top 50 Juniors on the Rise – Midfield; PASLA National Tournament Midfield Alternate; 2010 Philly Lacrosse Showcase All-Star

Academic honors: Nat Honor Society, Dist Honor Roll, Second Honors, Our Little Roses in San Pedro Sula, Honduras – Mission Team 2008-2011, Active Member of Mount’s Community Service Corps, Mount Gold Key Club, Mount Senior Retreat Leader

What will you major in/study? Biology

Why did you choose school? “Union is the perfect fit for me—both academically and athletically. Since I will be playing both field hockey and lacrosse, the trimester schedule will be a big advantage when balancing my time. I felt very comfortable with Coach Jackson (head women’s lacrosse coach) and Coach French (head women’s field hockey coach) as well as many members of the teams. I was also very impressed by Union’s commitment to community service and their interdisciplinary approach to learning.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “With our new coach, Jenny Duckenfield, we are looking to try and win the AACA championship. Coach Duck is going to have a huge impact on Mount lacrosse and hopefully allow us to go farther than the first round of districts. We have a lot of great players and we are ready to push ourselves to our limits.”

Other comments: “Most importantly I would like to thank my dad and mom for the support and encouragement they have given me throughout my life as in athlete. I would also like to thank (Ultimate Goal owner/coach) Michele DeJuliis for helping me with the recruiting process. Lastly, I would like to thank my teammates, both Mount and Ultimate, for pushing me to achieve my highest potential and making it possible for me to play at the next level.”
