Women’s lacrosse: Philly’s Lomady, Bernardini earn pre-season All-CAA; Sunday’s D1 roundup

James Madison senior Mary Kate Lomady (Abington) and Old Dominion junior midfielder Lisa Bernardini (George School) have been named to the Preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association team for 2011.

Lomady, a speedy attacker, fired a team-high 46 goals and was second best on the squad with 56 points last season en route to earning IWLCA All-America third team and All-CAA first team honors.

Bernardini started all 15 games as a junior a year ago, setting career highs in goals, assists and points. Bernardini led the team with 26 assists and 59 points, while finishing the season second on the team with 33 goals.

In Sunday’s women’s Division I action
Stanford 13, Notre Dame 12

Junior Maggie Tamasitis (Boyertown) had a goal and three assists for the Fighting Irish (1-1) in their overtime loss to the Cardinal and coach Amy Bokker (Phoenixville).

Maryland 18, Richmond 7

Richmond junior goalie Victoria Roebuck (Springside School) made 17 saves for the Spiders.

St. Bonaventure 14, Bucknell 10

Madison Hurwitz (Council Rock South) had a goal for the Bison in their opening-day loss.
