Wednesday’s girls’ high school roundup: Downingtown West improves to 2-0 by downing Hill School

Eva Winiarski (two assists) and Jillian Sanders (one assist) each scored six goals to power Downngtown West to a 15-6 victory over The Hill School today in non-league girls’ lacrosse action.

Taylor Hess made seven saves for the Whippets, who improved to 2-0.

Megan Kelly had three goals and Cassidy Jemo added a pair for the Blues.

Emmaus 8, Nazareth 6

In a early-season showdown between two of the top girls teams in the Lehigh Valley Conference, Emmaus rallied from a three-goal deficit in the second half to score the game’s last five goals and defeat Nazareth.

Emmaus senior Laura Seng scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with eight minutes remaining in the game for the Hornets who improved to 2-0 in the LVC and 2-1 overall. Seng and juniors Nicole Schmidt, Colleen Ehrig and Angie DeBellis each had two goals for Emmaus.

Nazareth, the defending LVC and District XI champs, were led by midfielder junior Kaitlynn Wiltraut who scored a game-high three goals. Junior attackman Rachel Repash added a pair of goals while junior midfielder Kelsi Krebs added a solo score for the Eagles who fell to 1-1 in the LVC, 1-2 overall.

Pottstown 20, Pottsgrove 4

Milan White poured in nine goals and Danae Perrymond added five while Kelsey Shumaker had three goals and an assist for the Trojans in the PAC-10 win.

Rachelle Mewshaw led the Falcons with two goals.

North Penn 7, Council Rock North 6

Rachel Shaw, Macie Hauck and Brenda McDermott each scored two goals as the Maidens earned the non-conference win.

Methacton 8, Spring-Ford 4

Emily Kellet had three goals and two assists and Megan Nearing added two goals and two assists while Rikko Moore made 15 saves to lead the Warriors to the PAC-10 victory.

Boyertown 20, Perkiomen Valley 2

Rachel Engler had four goals and an assist and Devyn Heidelbaugh added three goals to lead the Bears to the PAC-10 victory.

Upper Merion 12, Jenkintown 7

Mel Ryan had four goals and an assist and Amanda McAteer dominated the midfield and added three goals and an assist to help the Vikings (2-0) topple the Drakes in a non-league game.

Key players on defense for Upper Merion were Tammy Slaughter, Colleen Quigley and Karen Hranek.

Episcopal Academy 11, Unionville 3

Taylor Trimble and Blake McHugh each pumped in five goals as EA improved to 2-0.

Kris Abens led the Indians (1-2) with a goal and an assist and Nikki Bonaduce had 12 saves.

Hatboro-Horsham 18, Central Bucks East 8

Nicole Beck had five goals and an assist and Cortnee Daley contributed three goals two assists for the Hatters in the Suburban One Continental Conference win.

Archbishop Wood 15, Lansdale Catholic 3

Alyssa Andress tallied four goals while Nichole Hayes and Megan Oczkowski each had three for the Vikings in the Catholic League win.

Katie Gillespite tallied two for LC.
