Team Philadelphia Elite claimed the Senior A championship last weekend by rallying past Smithtown West (N.Y.), 4-3, in overtime at the Tri-State National Summer Lacrosse Festival at Mercer County Park in Princeton Junction, N.J.

Team Philadelphia trailed 3-0 after 10 minutes, but won it when Dylan Ikkala (Downingtown West) received the ball at X and drove hard to his left hand side. After fighting through a crease slide he got off a shot from about 7 yards out that beat the Smithtown West goalie.
Kevin Clarke (Downingtown West), who was dominant all weekend at the face-off X, won the draw that led to the game-winner. He won more than 85 percent of his draws and was a key all weekend.
Ikkala tallied the first goal for Philadelphia Elite to make it 3-1 and then Branden Mercier (Pottsgrove) scored on a defenseman’s dream as he went coast to coast to cut the lead to 3-2.
Aaron Murphy (Downingtown East) struck for the tying goal as the play went back and forth for the last minutes of regulation. Both Robert Hayman Jr (Allentown Central Catholic) and Alex Cuttic (Downingtown West) were strong in goal for Philadelphia Elite. Cuttic made a spectacular one on one save with a minute left to preserve the tie and force overtime.
