More than 800 people participated in the Team EC/RN 5K Run/Walk held Oct. 15 to honor the memory of Eddie Coombs and Robert Nagel.

The event, held at Hatboro-Horsham High, has raised over $18,000 for the Eddie Coombs Foundation. Cooms and Nagel, who tragically lost their lives in a car accident in August, were members of the Hatters’ lacrosse team that advanced to the state playoffs in 2010.
Coombs was a 2010 graduate of Hatboro-Horsham High School who went on to play NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse at Marist College. Coombs had a standout freshman season for the Red Foxes. He was a 2010 All-Suburban One Continental Conference midfielder, who helped the Hatters to an 18-6 record and a share of the league title with Central Bucks East. Nagel also graduated from HH in 2010 and was a key player on the title team.
The Edward Coombs Foundation will help to fund college scholarships. Baked goods, clothing items and raffle tickets were sold to raise money at the event, organized by HH seniors Connor Nagel (Robert’s brother) and Jackie DePietro (Coombs’ friend).
Among the racers in the event were members of the Chestnut Hill College men’s lacrosse team. Race organizers thanked the many sponsors and all participants for their support.
More information can be found on the Team EC/RN Facebook page. Donations can still be made to the Foundation.
