The Big 4 Lacrosse Indoor Academy is a winter lacrosse league, taking place on Sunday afternoons inside the warm confines of the Fieldhouse at Haverford.
Each participant will be placed on a team that will compete together throughout the entirety of the academy. However, the academy offers participants much more than the typical winter lacrosse league.
A winter lacrosse league gives participants an opportunity to play in a 1 hour game once a week. The academy will be broken down to two segments- a 1 hour position specific clinic, and 2 hours of competitive play each day.
The position specific clinic segment of the academy will allow participants to expand their skill set in drills designed to mimic situation relevant to an outdoor 10v10 game (defensive players and goalies will be expected to use their long-poles and goalie sticks). The competitive games will resemble the game played by NLL lacrosse teams (like the Philadelphia Wings).
The goals will be 3ft. by 3ft. and ALL players will be required to play with a short-stick. It is no longer a secret that participating in a ‘Canadian-style‘ lacrosse league is an extremely effective way to improve performance in the traditional outdoor 10v10 game.
This statement is exemplified by the fact that in 2008, 10 of the top 20 goal scorers in NCAA Div 1 lacrosse were Canadians, yet less than 5% of the Division 1 population was Canadian and the MLL (professional outdoor lacrosse league) defenseman of the year award has been given to a Canadian player each of the past six seasons. I can personally attest to the fact that I would have not been able to play professional lacrosse (as a defenseman) if I hadn’t played ‘canadian-style‘ lacrosse during the fall while I attended the University of Denver.
The Academy will be held on Sunday 12/11, 12/18, 1/8, 1/15, 1/22, and 1/29 from 11am – 2pm. The Academy is open to current 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys. The fee to participate in the Academy is $300. Registration is limited to the first 60 players to sign up.

Statistics from competitive league play will be kept and updated on the website on a weekly basis. The Academy will allow players to vastly improve their skills in a competitive and extremely FUN environment.
