Episcopal Academy midfielder Taylor Trimble and Downingtown East goalie Allie Murray will attempt to make the final cut for the USA Under-19 National team this weekend in the Champions Challenge at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Twenty-four players remain on the squad, which will compete at the FIL U19 World Championships Aug. 3-13 in Hannover, Germany.
Only eighteen will remain after this weekend when the final cuts will be made after the Champion Challenge, a US Lacrosse event, where the U19 training team will face NCAA teams from Rollins College (4:30 p.m. Saturday) and Jacksonville University (7 p.m. Saturday).
Trimble, a two-time winner of the Heather Leigh Albert award for the top player at the US Lacrosse National Tournament, was an All-Phillylacrosse.com pick last year and led EA to its sixth straight Inter-Ac League crown.
Trimble, who has signed a Letter of Intent to play at Duke, also was named as the No. 2 senior in the nation by ESPN RISE and was one of the top 10 Young Guns in Inside Lacrosse’s listing of the top rising seniors during the summer Trimble, who had 70 goals and 30 assists last year, plays for the Phantastix club team.
Murray, who has signed with Notre Dame, also was an All-Phillylacrosse.com pick last year when she led the Cougars to a fifth-place finish in the District 1 tournament and a berth in the state tournament. She played on the Philly Under Armour team at the UA Underclassmen Games in the summer. She plays club lacrosse for PA Express.
