The calendar says November, but with the amount of lacrosse coming this month, it feels like the start of a new spring season.
November figures to be the busiest out-of-season month ever in the Philadelphia region for lacrosse.
Here is a rundown of the coming events:
Recruiting events:
*Girls – Second Philly Girls Showcase, Saturday, Nov. 5 at Westtown School. The event will draw more than 200 of the top players from the Philly region and beyond to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. Players compete in morning games and the top players are selected to the deBeer Fab 40 All-Star games.
*Boys – Third Quaker Fall LaxFest, Sunday, Nov. 6 at Radnor. The event will feature 16 of the top club teams from the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions as well as Canada.
*Boys – F4 Showbine, Nov. 12-13 in Flemington at Diamond Nation. This event features individual skills testing and team tournaments.
*Boys – Big 4 Invitational Showcase, Nov. 13 at Shipley School. The event will feature more than 150 invitees from the Philly area playing three or four games each with an All-Star Game at the end.
*Boys – Philly Showcase, Sophomore and Juniors, Nov. 19, Episcopal Academy. More than 300 of the top underclassmen from Philly and many regions play in morning games with the hope of being selected to the Gait Fab 40 All-Star teams. More than 100 coaches are expected for the event.
*Boys – Philly Showcase, Senior, Nov. 20, Episcopal Academy. Nearly 100 of the top uncommitted seniors from the region and beyond compete in morning games.
*Boys – Philly Invitational Club Tournament, Nov. 20, Episcopal Academy. This event is the capper to the Philly Showcase, and follows the Senior boys games. Many of the top club and high school squads will compete in a round robin format with as many as 36 teams overall.
Benefit Tournaments:
*“Boys – Lax 4 Logan Night”, Wednesday, Nov. 16 at Radnor, 6 p.m. – Four teams, host Radnor, Conestoga, Haverford School, Malvern Prep, will be distributed evenly among eight 22-man squads for four games on two turf fields. Proceeds go to help the family of Logan Schweiter, a 12-year-old Conestoga Youth Lacrosse player seriously injured in the summer due to a flood.
*Boys – Pre-Showcase Charity Tournment for Logan Schweiter, Friday, Nov. 18 at St. Joseph’s University – Again, four club teams will play to raise money for the family of Logan Schweiter. The matchups include: HEADstrong vs Mesa at 7 p.m.; Duke’s L.C. vs Leading Edge (NJ) at 8 p.m.
Lacrosse Team Tournaments:
*Girls/Boys – Third annual Care for the Cure Tournament, Nov. 6, Henderson
*Boys – Strath Haven Fall LaxFest, possibly Nov. 12 or 13 at Strath Haven (rescheduled from last weekend’s storm)
*Girls/Boys – Pumpkin Pie Tournament, Nov. 19-20, Westtown School
