Four Philly girls’ club teams – the Phantastix, PA Express, SEPA and Quaker City – will compete Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the 4th annual Lax for the Cure at New Egypt HS, N.J.
The popular tournament, run by Mendham High/STEPS Club coach Jennifer Shoulberg, raises money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. About 180 teams from 14 states will compete for championships in six age groups.
Last year’s tournament raised $237,000 and nearly $500,000 has now been raised in four years. More than 100 college coaches have already committed to attend as action will be held on 13 fields.
