Head coach Tom Leanos announced that former Centenary College standout Jason Rieg will serve as his assistant coach for the 2012 Drew University Rangers. National Lacrosse League player Jeff Bigas, a defenseman on the Philadelphia Wings and a graduate of Penncrest who earned National Defenseman of the Year in Division III, will come aboard as a volunteer assistant coach.
Rieg will fill the void left by former Major League Lacrosse MVP, Matt Poskay, who left to take a head coaching position at Division I Wagner College. Rieg will dive into his first coaching endeavor after a stellar playing career at Centenary College. The 2010 Centenary graduate will be the Rangers offensive coordinator for the upcoming season.
Bigas will begin his first year on Leanos’ staff. The 2005 Salisbury graduate won three Division III National Championships in college as a defender. The Philadelphia native was a three-time USILA First Team All-American and the 2005 National Defenseman of the Year for the Sea Gulls. He also was an Academic All-American and a team captain at Salisbury.
Bigas was selected in the fourth round of the MLL Draft by the Chicago Machine of the where he played four seasons. He has played the last three years with New York/Orlando Titans and the Wings. He currently is the Head Coach Men’s Lacrosse Coach at Morristown High School. Bigas also played for the Duke’s Lacrosse Club.
