The Philly boys and Pennsylvania girls – consisting mostly of Philly players – each fell in the first round of the payoffs this morning at the National Lacrosse Classic at Germantown, Md.
The Philly boys, who won their pool play title, fell to Washington D.C., 8-3. Long stick midfielder Brett Incollingo (Holy Ghost Prep), who took may of the team’s face-offs, scored two goals and Zach Schleicher (Emmaus) scored once. Matt Figueroa (Abington) had an assist.
Philly finished 3-2 overall.
On Thursday night, Philly players Trevor Kupecky (Upper Merion attackman, rising junior), Tim Langerhans (Conestoga defenseman, rising junior) and Figueroa (midfielder, rising senior) were picked to compete in the All-Star Game before over 100 college coaches.
“We had a strong team and they they played well and beat some talented teams,” said Philly coach Josh Hanlon (Neshaminy). “We did win our pool, we just struggled in the morning games.”
Rochester later defeated Washington D.C., 11-4, in the title game.
The PA girls’ team, coached by Great Valley’s Joe Tornetta, fell in the first round of the playoffs, 13-6, to the Long Island East team. Maryland later defeated Long Island East, 9-8, to win the championship.
