Recent Upper Dublin graduate Charles Minehart (defenseman) has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Wittenberg University (Ohio).
Minehart was a First Team Suburban One American Conference pick in 2011, helping the Cardinals (12-7) tie for second in the league and advance to the District 1 tournament.
He plays club lacrosse for LB3.
This year Wittenberg went 14-2 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA championships under coach George Harris. The Tigers finished No. 15 in the final regular season rankings for the USILA.
Minehart plans to major in education and possibly minor in music.
“I chose Wittenberg because of my interest in majoring in education and the opportunity to continue playing lacrosse at the collegiate level,” he said. “After meeting some of the lacrosse players during my overnight visit last fall, I could tell that they were a very tight-knit group and that was also a factor that encouraged me to pursue Wittenberg.”
Minehart, who was a captain this year, was a three-year starter who also earned all-league honors as a junior and a sophomore.
“In my senior year at Upper Dublin I was selected to be one of the team captains and drastically increased my leadership skills and I learned what it is like to truly devote one’s self to something and get the desired results,” he said.
“I can’t thank (former head) coach Jon Levine and (assistant) coach Ryan White enough for the four years that I spent playing for them.”
