Men’s recruit: Delaware lands Sachem East (N.Y.) junior midfielder Engelken

Sachem East junior midfielder Thomas Engelken has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Delaware.

Graduation Year: 2013
Position: Midfielder
College Choice: Delaware
Club Affiliation: Havoc Lacrosse
Major lacrosse honors: Suffolk Showcase Team, All-Star Games at Top 205 and Blue Chip 225
What will you major in/study? Sports Management, Broadcasting and Communications

Why did you choose school? “I Chose Delaware because it’s a mid-sized university with a distance that’s convenient for me and my family. I liked the class size, the layout of the campus and the sports facilities. I also felt comfortable with the support structure for the student-athlete.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “Last year we had a young team and we struggled at times and didn’t make it into the playoffs this year we worked hard through the summer and I feel confident that we should compete to get a spot in the playoffs this year.”

Other comments:“I want to thank my Mom, Dad and the volunteers at the Suffolk County PAL for the commitment and support through

out the years. I also want to thank Coach Petillo, Coach De Boer, and Coach Slater, my youth coaches who gave me the support and structure to be a successful lacrosse player.”
