Conestoga junior defenseman Carson Scott has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Delaware.
Carson Scott log:
High School: Conestoga
Graduation Year: 2013
Position: Defenseman
College choice: Univ. of Delaware
Club Affiliation: Duke’s L.C., Mesa Fresh 2013
Major lacrosse honors:Blue Chip camp, Member of 2011 PIAA state championship team, EPSLA Showcase, 2011.
Academic honors:Second honors
Why did you choose school?: “I felt head coach (Bob) Shillinglaw will be like another father figure, and I liked (top assistant) coach (Greg) Carroll. I like the way he coaches the defense. It’s the right fit; I like the campus and I meshed well with all the guys. It’s 45 minutes away, but it seems a lot further. Still, I can come home and my parents will never miss a game. The team contends every year for the playoffs and that’s huge coming from a program like Conestoga where we have been pretty successful.”
What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “We think we have the talent again to do it. We’ll work our tails off. Some people say we have gaps and holes, but we still have so many guys on the team that won state titles. We’ll contend again.”
Other comments: “I want to thank (Duke’s L.C.) coach Ebe Helm, (Conestoga coach) Brian Samson, the Conestoga youth program and the Mesa Fresh coaching staff.”
Other info: Scott is the second Conestoga junior to commit this week to a Division I school; goalie Robbie Zonino committed to Michigan. There also are nine Pioneer seniors that have committed to Division I colleges, including attackman Connor Frisina (Delaware).
