Letter of Intent siginings: State champion Garnet Valley girls finalize commitments to D1 schools

Five members of the 2011 state champion Garnet Valley girls’ lacrosse team confirmed their commitments Wednesday during the official opening of the early period for National Letters of Intent.

State Champion Garnet Valley players confirm commitments on signing day: (l-r) ChristyAnn Morello, Assistant Coach, Halley Barnes (Rutgers University); Anna Elise Morello (Yale University); Kate Henwood, Head Coach; Ally Heavens (Penn State University); Kara Stroup (Temple University); Missy Koscinski (Robert Morris University) and Amanda Kammes, Assistant Coach

Four of the players signed their letters: midfielder/attack Halley Barnes (Rutgers University), midfielder Ally Heavens (Penn State University), attack Kara Stroup (Temple University) and defender Missy Koscinski (Robert Morris University). Also committed to play at the Division I level is attack Anna Elise Morello, who is headed to Yale University. (Ivy League schools do not require Letters of Intent).

The players were joined by their coaches, Kate Henwood (head coach), ChristyAnn Morello and Amanda Kammes.

Last year Garnet Valley went 24-3, winning the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) crown for the first time with a win over Downingtown East at HersheyPark Stadium. They also were Central League quad-champions.
