From Press Releases

It is that time of year again, so get your lacrosse team together and start the Lax Stache growing.

The Lacrosse Mustache Madness Campaign was founded to bring the lacrosse community together and to raise funds benefiting the HEADstrong Foundation. To participate in the event lacrosse programs must register then must either grow or draw finger staches of any imaginable shape or size. Last year the campaign generated over $72,000 just for growing mustaches over the span of 1 month!

The event is open to male or female lacrosse programs across the nation. Lacrosse Mustache Madness takes place Oct. 19, 2011- Nov. 30, 2011. Teams can register online at www.laxstachemadness.com

Registration will be open throughout the entire campaign but participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible. There is a $15.00 registration fee to join the campaign. This fee gives you access to the HEADstrong Foundation Online Giving Site, an Official Lacrosse Mustache Madness T-Shirt, a pair of Official HEADstrong lime green show laces, and a four pack of promotional mustaches!!

Once you or your program is registered, begin growing out your Sweet Stache. Style and size of the stache will be rewarded! If you cannot grow a stache, finger staches are more than welcome. Better yet, anyone and everyone can get involved by buying Warrior Relentless27 products at www.Lacrosse.com.

Submit your Stache Shots each week through the Flash your Stache link at www.laxstachemadness.com and weekly Ken Clausen (Hill School graduate) will pick and post his Top 5 Stache Shots of the Week at www.insidelacrosse.com. The top five weekly winners will receive a great prize from HEADstrong. Prizes include HEADstrong clothing gear, Relentless mesh kits, gift cards to lacrosse.com, a pair of limited edition lime green lacrosse nets, and a full page color ad in “Inside Lacrosse Magazine” with HEADstrong Foundation.

HEADstrong Foundation

HEADstrong Foundation works to advocate, raise funds for and to support those affected by blood cancer or working to eliminate it. HEADstrong Foundation generates funds for blood cancer research, distributes grants and provides assistance to patients and survivors of blood cancer.

In addition, HEADstrong Foundation awards scholarships and grants for students with ambitions of entering the medical field. Founder Nick “Head” Colleluori (Ridley High) attended Hofstra University where he played lacrosse. While at Hofstra, Nick was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

While sick he began counseling other patients and began laying the framework for what would become the HEADstrong Foundation, in an effort to raise cancer awareness and help others and future patients that found themselves in a similar situation. In August of 2006 Nick even found the strength to play in one last lacrosse game. Nick passed away on November 28, 2006 at the age of 21. Even though he is gone, his memory and relentless determination lives on through the HEADstrong Foundation.
