Drexel Athletics announced the release of the 2012 women’s lacrosse schedule. The schedule features games against the nation’s top lacrosse programs that competed in the 2011 NCAA Tournament including the University of Pennsylvania, James Madison University, and Duke University. Drexel will host 10 contests this year at Vidas Field.
The Dragons will open the season with a three-game homestead starting with George Washington on Sunday, February 19. After match-ups against Saint Joseph’s and Penn, Drexel will hit the road for its first road game at Colgate. The Dragons continue their non-conference with contests against Mount Saint Mary’s, La Salle, Longwood, and UMBC. Drexel will travel to Denver on March 30 before visiting George Mason for the first Colonial Athletic Association game of the season.
The squad opens up conference play with George Mason, James Madison, and Delaware at each of their home venues. Drexel will return to University City for a four-game home stand, facing Towson, William & Mary, Old Dominion, and Hofstra all in the month of April.
Coach Anna Marie Vesco enters her 10th season at Drexel and has compiled a 91-61 record. Drexel returns eight starters from last season’s team which finished 9-8 overall and made its first appearance in the CAA Championships in the program’s history.
