Carli Sukonik scored the game-winner with four seconds to play to lift Harriton to a 12-11 victory over Upper Dublin today in a District 1 girls’ lacrosse playback game at Plymouth Whitemarsh.
The win guaranteed the fourth–seeded Rams (19-3) a berth in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) tournament. They will play the winner of today’s playback between Council Rock North and Boyertown in the fifth-place game Thursday.
Ninth-seeded Upper Dublin (15-6) must defeat the CR North-Boyertown loser to make the state playoffs (top seven from District 1 advance).
Harriton goalie Jackie Marshall (10 saves) made a key stop with 40 seconds left and Sukonik (three goals) and Katie Melvin forced a turnover with 16 seconds to set up the winning goal.
Caleigh Foust led the Rams with five goals and two assists while Jess Schwab added three goals and two assists as Harriton earned its first state berth ever and broker the school record for wins in a season.
Kelly Cross led the Cards with four goals and two assists while Kaley Weinstein and Brooke Callahan each had three goals.
