What do a Cougar, a Ram, a Falcon and The Tide all have in common?
They will find out on Friday and Saturday, March 25-26 as they meet in the inaugural “Icebreaker” Boys Lacrosse Tournament hosted by Devon Preparatory School.
The tourney serves as a kickoff event of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) season, which begins March 25.
On Friday, Collegium Charter School (Cougars) meets Devon Prep (Tide) at 3 p.m., followed by Pottsgrove (Falcons) vs. Harriton (Rams) at 4:45 p.m.
The two winners oppose each other in the Championship Game at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, preceded by the Consolation Game at 6 p.m.
All games will be held on the turf at YSC Sports in Wayne.
“The tournament should help jump start our lacrosse season,” Devon Prep Athletic Director, Mark Aquilante said. “We are excited to host this tournament for the first time.”
Four different area Leagues will be represented. Collegium Charter competes in the Tri-County League, Harriton in the Central League, Pottsgrove in the Pioneer Athletic Conference and Devon Prep in the newly formed, five-team Bicentennial League.
“All four teams are looking for positive starts to their respective seasons,” said Devon Prep coach Joe Lore.
Collegium Charter and Devon Prep last played each other in 2009. Harriton and Pottsgrove have never met.
