Registration is open for Coach Duck’s Elite Training Clinics, which have been extended to December, January and February at Ampro Fieldhouse in Clifton Heights.
The 90-minuite clinics feature high pressure individual attacking and defensive training and drills designed to develop both attack and defensive game skills. Specialized instruction is provided in defense and goaltending by Jenny Duckenfield (Mount St. Joseph head coach), Kim Jackson (Henderson head coach) and Phyllis Kilgour (former Radnor head coach and owner of eight state titles and 574 wins).
Players competing at the recent Philly Girls Showcase gave these comments on the impact of the Elite clinics:
“We work on skills in shooting and passing and if you have passing skills they transfer to the games,” – Mount St. Joseph freshman attack Christie Mischler.
“We work on a lot of defense and coach Duck has the defensive steps broken down for us. That helped me a lot, especially since there were so many fast girls here. We also worked on placing our shots and that’s helped against the goalies here.” – Strath Haven freshman midfielder Ellie Peichel
“We’re put into many game-like situations in the clinics. Especially for me being a goalie, every specialized training helps. We work on hand-eye coordination. Coach Jackson has been helping me get my techniques down so it’s muscle memory.” – Mount St. Joseph junior goalie Alex Lista, a morning session MVP at the Philly Showcase
“I have been able to apply the defensive skills and also my shooting skills. It’s really helped my confidence.” – Wilson High sophomore midfielder Madison Terefenko, who earned a spot on the All-Star Team.
