From Press Releases

As he prepares for his first season as the new head coach of the Siena program, John Svec recently welcomed to campus the 15-member Class of 2015. The group arrived at Siena for the start of classes earlier this month and is already getting geared up for the 2012 season.

“From what we’ve seen in the first week of practice, this is an extremely athletic and talented group top to bottom,” noted Svec. “It looks like individually each player is adjusting to the speed of the college game well so far. While that is very exciting, what’s more impressive is the level of character they have shown.”

Included among the group of freshmen are two attackmen, six midfielders, five defensemen and two goalies.

Chris White and Kieran Donohue comprise the freshman attack with Thomas Bardsley, Nate Barry, Kevin Christopher, Casey Dowd, Ryan Mallon, and Conor Prunty at midfield, Weston French (Central Bucks East), Max Bonsall, James Cashin, JD Heinz, and Mark Kissick on defense and Nick Capalbo and Tommy Cordts in goal.

French led the Patriots to the Suburban One Continental Conference crown, a berth in the District 1 finals and a spot in the state semifinals in 2011.

The freshmen join a group of 35 returnees from the 2011 squad which won a program record 13 games, won the MAAC Championship, advanced to the NCAA Tournament and finished the season nationally ranked at No. 20 in the USILA Coaches’ Poll.
