Select Lacrosse won the 7th Grade A Division title at the Sweet Laxin’ last weekend at Bridgewater, N.J.
Select went 5-0 over the two-day tournament and edged the Long Island Riptide (Islip, NY), 7-6, in double overtime to claim the championship.
Select defeated Laker Futures (Boonton, NJ), Team United Bison (Little Silver, NJ), and South Jersey Shamrocks (Deptford, NJ) in Pool play on Saturday, advancing to Sunday’s playoff bracket as the No. 1 seed. On Sunday Select defeated Carolina Select (Charlotte, NC) in the semifinal, 10-3.
Select (Hogan) is 13-2 this summer with two trips to championship games and one championship title. Select has competed in the Liberty Shootout (Malvern, PA), Maverick Big-Time Shootout (Long Island, NY), Sweet Laxin’ (Bridgewater, NJ). Select finishes its summer schedule in two weeks at the Patriot Games.
The team consists of Andrew Bullotta, Andrew Fisher, Cody Mazurek, Colin Cahill, Frank Krug, Keith Becker, Kyle Landis, Logan Nelsen, Mack Schwartz, Matt McDermott, Matt Webster, Michael Foster, Michael Mehlman, Nick D’Ambrosio, Nick Yerkes, Owen Debuque, Owen Griffin, Sean Fechter, Stephen Hogan, Jr., Zach Lipkin. The coaches are Steve Hogan (head coach), Andy Fisher, and Shane Opperman.
