Temple freshman Charlotte Swavola (Cheltenham) has been named the Atlantic 10 Lacrosse Rookie of the Week after outstanding performances that included two hat tricks for the Owls.

Swavola recorded a pair of hat tricks as Temple posted a 1-1 record last week. She scored three goals including the game-winner in the Owls’ 14-12 win over #17 Princeton on Mar. 31, halting an 0-11 streak versus Princeton since 1998. She also tallied a ground ball and two draw controls in the victory

Swavola recorded another hat trick in TU’s 16-7 loss to defending A-10 champion UMass, and tallied three ground balls.

Cornelll’s Ivory (Episcopal Academy) earns Ivy League honor

Cornell freshman defender Kate Ivory (Episcopal Academy) has been named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week after her outstanding effort helped the Big Red snap a 22-game losing skid to No. 17 Princeton in an 11-8 victory on Saturday

Ivory caused three turnovers and won seven ground balls to pick up the team’s first win over the Tigers since 1988. Ivory caused a pair of turnovers and won five possessions on ground balls in the decisive second half. She matched her season totals in both ground balls and draw controls from the first eight contests. Ivory defended Princeton’s Barbara Previ, holding the high-scoring sophomore to a pair of assists in the win.
